Mindhunter season 3 is one of the most awaited psychological crime thriller series on Netflix. The streaming giant brings a dozen of new TV shows every year but only a few of them got desired number of eyeballs and actually deserves more seasons, Mindhunter is one of them.
The true crime television series is created by English Australian screenwriter Joe Scott Penhall and the story is based on a non-fiction book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by a retired special agent and a unit chief, John Douglas who worked for the United States FBI.
Jonathan Groff is starring as Officer Holden Ford and a special agent in the FBI’s beahvioral Science Unit and Holt McCallany is starring as Bill Tench, another special agent of FBI’s BSU whose story is covered in the series.
Will there be a season 3 of Mindhunter?
Yes, there will be a season 3 of Mindhunter as Netflix announced in January 2020 that a potential third season will happen in the future but currently, the show is on indefinite hold because executive producer David Fincher wanted to pursue some other projects instead of working on another season of Mindhunter.
Now, you might be wondering what are those projects that prompt David to withdraw his focus from Mindhunter. They were, Love Death and Robots season 2 and Mank film. Fincher was praised for directing the 2020 biographical film and it performed well on Netflix. Moreover, the movie managed to won Academy award for Best Production design and cinematography.
When is Mindhunter Season 3 coming out?
The series debuted with a season 1 on Netflix in 2017 and a season 2 premiered after two years in 2019. Following the same pattern, season 3 has to be released sometime in 2021 but the Covid-19 pandemic disturbed the filming schedules.
It seems that the ship of Mindhunter S3 is still sailing through heavy winds as there is no release date planned as of December 2022 but if the sailors of the show keep on holding the ropes tightly then this hard time will also pass and we will be able to see Mindhunter season 3 on our Netflix screens as soon as 2024.

Some insider reported recently that talks for a season 3 are going on between Netflix and Fincher.
It will be huge as our source anticipated some behind the scenes moment but there is one problem, the network hasn’t made anything official like a trailer, teaser, or an upcoming poster.
For now, Fincher is busy in directing another upcoming action film The Killer that is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
If the insider news turns out to be true then the filming is about to begin and we can expect to see Mindhunter season 3 around 2024 just like the second season of Wednesday, another awaited crime thriller series by Netflix.

Season 1 ended with the late 70s while season 2 covered the stories after that till early 80s. Similarly, season 3 will introduce us to mid 80s and eventually feature some infamous serial killers as Ramierez, Ridgway, and Dahmer.
Netflix has also created a separate biographical series to explain the daily life of the notorious murderer Jeffrey Dahmer, you can watch it right away before continuing to Mindhunter season 3 which is yet to arrive.
The book of former FBI special agent has a lot to offer including the Bill’s falling relationship and his own mind battles but reading might be boring for you because the show has represented the story in a much more spectacular way.
