Yes, Outer Banks will definitely have a season 4 as Netflix has officially renewed the show for a fourth season. The official renewal announcement was made at the Poguelandia Fan Event in Huntington Beach, California ahead of season 3 premiere on Netflix.
In addition to the renewal announcement, Netflix also confirmed a new spinoff series OBX: Paradise that will feature a new group of characters living in the Outer Banks area.
The event featured a Q&A session where cast and creators of the show revealed some important plot details like the time jump, the fate of John B, and a much darker and emotional storyline.
When is Outer Banks Season 4 coming out?
The release date of Outer Banks Season 4 is highly anticipated among fans like Lidia Poet season 2 but an exact premiere date is yet to be announced by Netflix. Since the production of the new season began in Feb 2023, we can expect the filming to began soon.
Most likely, the filming is going to take place in South Carolina at the locations where previous seasons of OBX were filmed and if the shooting wrapped before winter 2023 then we can expect Outer Banks Season 4 to be released in early 2024.
Since the show’s creator and exec producer Jonas has teased a time jump in the new season, we might be able to some new locations too along with new characters. The creator has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to produce more shows, including more seasons of OBX.

At Poguelandia Fan Event, it was announced that Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and Madison Bailey, would be returning for the upcoming season as John B, Sarah Cameron, and Kiara Carrera. Some new cast members will also be introduced in the upcoming season of the Outer Banks.
Outer Banks Season 3 Ending
Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger where John B and Sarah seems to be dead from a fatal shot fired by Ward. If you haven’t watched the season, let us explain the whole finale scene.
After successfully retrieving the gold from the Royal Merchant shipwreck, the Pogues were celebrating their victory, but their joy was short-lived as they got another suprise.
John B and Sarah are confronted by Ward, who reveals that he faked his own death and has been working with Limbrey all along. In a tense standoff, Ward shoots John B and Sarah, causing them to fall off the boat and into the water.
The final scene of the season 3 shows John B and Sarah floating lifelessly in the water, leaving all of us wondering whether they survived the attack or not.
Do you think they are dead? Absolutely, not but if they are dead for real then we don’t think that there is anything left in watching Outer Banks.
What will happen in Outer Banks season 4?
The show’s creators have hinted that the next season will continue to explore the fallout from the Royal Merchant heist and the Pogues’ ongoing struggles with the law and their enemies.
There’s also the question of whether John B and Sarah will survive their gunshot wounds and what consequences Ward and Limbrey will face for their actions.
That would be interesting though as two of our main characters are floating unconsciously in the middle of the ocean.
