The Empress Season 2 is an upcoming installment of epic period drama series created and written by German writer & actress Katharina Eyssen and Lena Stahl.
Katharina is glad to see the success of the show and has to say that I am incredibly grateful to touch so many different people in Germany, Europe other parts of the world. The show do have some historical inaccuracies but the narration and direction is quite interesting.
If you are waiting for another season of The Crown then better to start watching The Empress because it is framed in the same way that will give you a royal feeling with full of entertainment.
About The Empress
Created by Katharina Eyssen & Lena Stahl, the Empress is a German period drama series directed by Floria Cossen and Katrin Gebbe, composed by Johannes Lehniger, Lisa Morgenstern, and Sebastian Damerius, and executively produced by Jochen Laube and Fabian Maubach.
The six part series shows the story of a 16 year old Bavarian duchess Elisabeth Sisi who rebelled against the rigid rules of the 19th century and began fighting for her freedom and individuality. Sisi was ahead of her time and Franz too has played a major role in shaping modern European history.
It also focuses on her romantic relationship with a young emperor Franz who was intended to be the fiance of her sister. The historic romance drama is unique that give us a glimpse to two young people battling with their inner voice while taking in-chage of an entire empire.
Will there be a season 2 of The Empress?
Yes, there will be a season 2 of The Empress. Netflix made an official renewal announcement on 8th of November 2022 via Tudum that the period drama has been ordered for a second season.
The announcement also reveals that the second season will give us answers to the questions that were left unanswered in the first season and the rebellion of Elisabeth against the patriarchial society will be continued.
The Empress Season 2 Release Date and Time
Considering that first season took nearly two years after the official announcement, The Empress Season 2 is expected to be release around August 2024 because the series has been already announced in Nov 2022. It will have a total of six new episodes with an hour long duration.
Season 1 premiered on 29 Sep 2022 but it was planned way before its arrival. Netflix announced in Dec 2020 that they were working on a six part series under the working title ‘The Empress’ and the series will be based on the life of an Austrian Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria (nicknamed Sisi).
Filming began in August 2021 and wrapped in Jan 2022. Then, the series entered into the post production period and finally the series come out in September 2022 after 7-8 months of post production.
So, the whole thing took around 21 months and the same is expected to happen with the upcoming season of series and if everything goes on time, the Empress season 2 will be released sometime in 2024 on Netflix like season 2 of Lidia Poet on Netflix.

The series won’t be continued without Devrim and Philip because they are the essence of the show. Other than their characters Hanna, Melika, Svenja, Johannes, and Alexander are expected to reprise their respective roles.

What will happen in The Empress Season 2?
One thing is clear, the 2nd season will continue the story right where season 1 has left. In other words, we will be able to see what happened after Elisabeth make a choice of leaving the royal court and heading back to her home in Bavaria.
Elisabeth makes her mood to leave Vienna after a rude talk with her husband and Archduchess Sophia but just before leaving the place, she finds out that she’s pregnant. As she tried to escape Vienna, her path was blocked by a protesting crowd.
She revealed about her pregnancy in front of the crowd but will that help her in reconciling with Emperor Franz Joseph. The Empress Season 2 will answer to our various of our questions that are coming in your mind after watching season 1 finale like, will Sisi change her decision to leave Vienna?
