HBO has officially confirmed that The Last of Us Season 2 is happening but the network hasn’t mentioned any exact release date yet. Worry not, the network is more excited to bring a new season of the series so, it will not take much time.
Created and written by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the American post apocalyptic drama TV series is based on a 2013 video game developed by Naughty Dog. The show has become the second biggest launch on HBO since 2010 (just behind House of The Dragon) and has crossed over 22 Million views within 12 days. Moreover, the audience grew by more than 20% in the second episode and this post apocalyptic series is still topping the charts of HBO.

When is The Last of Us Season 2 coming out?
Season 1 was announced in March 2020 as a joint production between Playstation Productions, Naughty Dog, and Sony Pictures Television. Pre-production began on 15 March 2021 in Calgary, Alberta and the filming began in July 2021.
Ali Abbasi, Peter Hoar, Jeremy Webb, Jasmila Zbanic, Neil Druckmann, and Craig Mazin were assigned as the directors. The filming concluded in June 2022 but the post production took another six months and the first episode of the series released on 15 Jan 2023.
Since HBO has greenlit the series for a second season in Jan 2023 like Alex Rider Season 3, we can expect the filming to begin sometime in May 2023 and that will wrap around August 2023. Post production will take another six months and the Last of Us season 2 will be finally released in Feb 2024.

A small job turns out to be a heartbreaking journey for Ellie and Joel as well and the duo must traverse the US to survive.
Since the first season has covered the story of the first part of the game, it is evident that a The Last of Us Season 2 will cover the story from The Last of Us Part II, a sequel to the original 2013 Last of Us game that takes place four years after the original when Joel saved Ellie from an oppressive quarantine zone and head towards US.
