Hallmark Channel is making their Kwanzaa debut with The Holiday Heritage, a brand new rom com movie that is set to release on 16 Dec in Countdown to Christmas 2022 programming event. Lyndie Greenwood, Robinson Peete, and Brooks Darnell will be seen starring in the role of lead cast as Ella, Micah, and Griffin of the Hallmark movie.
This year is really special for Hallmark as they have brought their first Mahogany film The Holiday Shocking, first gay rom-com The Holiday Sitter, and finally, we have the network’s first Kwanzaa film to revive the heritage of traditional African-American culture.
The movie is directed by Alfons Adetuyi, scripts are written by Rhonda F Baraka, produced by Caitlin Delaney and Shane Boucher. Muse Entertainment is in-charge of the film’s production with Joel S Rice and Jonas Prupas as executive producers.
Where was Hallmark ‘The Holiday Heritage’ filmed?
Principal photography of The Holiday Heritage took place between 19 Oct 2022 and 29 Oct 2022 inside Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the 16 films that were made in Ottawa in 2022, a local newspaper reported.
If you are planning to visit the locations of the photoshoot then here are the most popular ones that Ottawa Tourism has recommended: Centretown, Glebe, Kanata, Manotick, Almonte, Pakenham, and Carleton Place. These are the places where majority of these sixteen Christmas movies were taped.
Peete shared on Instagram while the shooting was ongoing. She revealed that the filming was taking place in Ottawa district of the Canadian province of Ontario. Brooks Darnell shared a short clip featuring the beautiful wrap of filming where crew members can be heard cheering, celebrating, and congragulating each other for the completion.
This is the beauty of Hallmark where every cast and crew member cares for each other. Lyndie also shared the overwhelming wrap up moment in an Instagram story on the same day of finishing and captioned that this was another beautiful experience.

What is the plot of Holiday Heritage?
Ella has returned to her home to heal past wound of her family and celebrate the Christmas together. In order to get something she never get, she has to do something that she never did and the holiday season seems to be the perfect one to do that unforeseen task.
To make the festive season more lively, Ella also takes help from her ex-boyfriend and the newly elected mayor. Ella reunites with her mother and grandmother to celebrate Kwanzaa and Christmas together and spread its unifying message through it.
